Saison is the original farmhouse ale. Crisp, dry and refreshing, it becomes a bit strong not so much because it's a high gravity beer as because the saison yeast will ferment more strongly than other ale yeasts. This is a great style to play with and make variations; try some flaked rye for a spicy character, a little orange peel, some honey, or referment on a summer fruit that's in season.
